Basically, Newmont Mining Corporation is the devil. They work to convince you that everything is alright when in reality their gold mining operations leaves the environment and communities in really bad shape. Most of the impact on the environment will be seen in the long-run. However, Newmont's goal is to "temp" local communities by showing what they will gain in the short term. The people in locations like Ghana and South Africa already live poor lifestyles. Why wouldn't people take jobs with Newmont to feed their families? The reality of the issue is that people are seeking to improve their lives and apparently the only way Newmont Mining Corporation is aiding this process is through degregating the environment and the people occuping the regions. Basically, we need to look at the whole picture. The impact from mining gold and other minerals can be seen world wide. This is not only because the mining occurs on every corner of the globe, but because it pollutes the air we breath, the water we drink, and the soil we grow our crops in. Mainly, we need to rethink what we dig out of the ground and determine if all the energy put into mining process are worth our troubles. Overall, it seems to me that people don't realize that we already have "gold" on the surface of the earth. Why do we need to go digging to get it? Dig into your heart and you will see that we already have everything we need!
